SEVENTEEN-MILE DRIVE

Sheltered porches overlook the golf course and view to Carmel Bay from this new home. The site had two main design challenges: The entry court of the two-story building faces north, experiencing constant shade, and many families of deer live near the property.  In response to these constraints the courtyard was designed as an evergreen foliage garden. This all-green scheme allows the textures of the fountain, stone walls, and cobble paving to be the main features of the space.

On the ocean side of the property a lawn was created to merge with the golf course, leading the eye to the bay.
